Some areas of the country will have record-high yields this fall because of favorable growing conditions. New tougher hybrids and increased population are making crop residue more difficult to manage. Although tillage might not be necessary in all fields, consider some best practices if you plan to till this fall, said Tim Nix, Tillage Marketing Manager, Case IH.

This week’s planting report comes from Dave Brennan, Case IH Crop Production Specialist for Nebraska, Colorado and western Kansas. He grew up on a diversified farm in northwest Iowa, raising corn, soybeans and livestock. Joining Case IH right after college, Brennan has served in a variety of roles with the company, including Parts & Service Quality Supervisor at the Grand Island combine manufacturing facility, Field Service Rep, Manager of Field Service Operations, Parts & Service Rep, and Precision Farming Product Specialist, before assuming his current post.  (more…)

Seed was going in the ground early just about everywhere this spring – up to four weeks early in some spots. As a result, virtually all the corn is planted, and soybeans are close. And other than scattered patches of corn in northern Indiana and Illinois that got dinged with frost, the early-planting gamble seems to have paid off.  (more…)

This week’s planting report comes from C.J. Parker, the Case IH crop production sales specialist covering Michigan, northwest Ohio and the northern half of Indiana. C.J. grew up on a corn and soybean farm in Dwight Ill., about 80 miles south of Chicago. His dad, uncle and cousin still operate the farm. Guest-blogging for us today is Jeff Vap, the Case IH crop production sales specialist for Nebraska and Colorado. Jeff grew up on an alfalfa and cattle ranch in Red Cloud, Nebraska, where he still farms with his Dad. Jeff has been in agriculture all his life. At 17, he was “selling big round bales off a semi truck.” He studied agronomy in college, and started his career in ag inputs 10 years ago. Jeff worked at three different cooperatives across the state of Nebraska before joining Case IH.  (more…)
