The “Big Three” Case IH fluids – No. 1 engine oil, Hy-Tran and coolant – will be coming soon for superior performance in Case IH equipment. These fluids help producers meet the demands of both Tier 4A engines and CVT transmissions, and they can also be used on legacy equipment. What type of fluids do you use on your equipment? In a historical sense, they represent the third and fourth generations of their Illinois farming family, but Don and Jon Thompson don’t spend much time looking backward. Instead, this father-son farming team keeps an eye on the future, adopting innovative technologies as soon as they become available, and adapting quickly to constant changes in farming practices.
Knowing their background, it’s no surprise that the Thompsons were among the first to see the advantages of the Axial-Flow rotary combine back in the mid 1970s, and that today they’re near the head of the line to see the advantages of new Case IH Tier 4A engine technology.
If you haven’t seen the earlier video posts highlighting what producers are saying about Case IH technology, check back over the last week or so. You’ll hear a variety of voices talking about Case IH Efficient Power, using terms like powerful, smart technology, and simple operation. Or for the big picture, just visit Case IH at our YouTube channel.
We’ve been the featuring video highlights of the Efficient Power story for more than a week now- scroll down to see our earlier posts, or visit us at our YouTube channel.
Hear What Producers are Saying: Case IH Smart Technology
All this week and next, we’re featuring videos highlighting what farmers have to say about Case IH Efficient Power, and how they’re putting it to work on their operations. Today we get feedback about the fuel efficiency in new Tier 4 compliant high-horsepower tractors.
Based on feedback from producers who have purchased new Tier 4 Steiger and Magnum tractors, the adoption of SCR technology for emissions control has led to gratifying gains in both performance and efficiency. While meeting Tier 4 requirements was obviously a requirement, these farmers told us that these engines put power first, delivering both optimum performance and top-notch fuel economy.

Watch Case IH Power: Hear What Producers are Saying
A couple of weeks ago, we asked you to tell us what Efficient Power means to you in a Twitter campaign and contest at Farm Progress Show. We got some great answers, but you’re probably wondering what inspired that contest.
The answer: You did! Last spring, after planting, we talked to farmers who purchased some of the first Tier 4 Steiger and Magnum tractors off the line. They told us that these engines put power – and not emissions – first, using SCR technology to deliver both optimum performance and top-notch fuel economy. They compared the tractors’ ease of use and comfort to driving a Cadillac.
Now you can hear for yourself what these farmers had to say. This first video highlights what producers like you told us about the power they saw in their fields. Check back throughout this week and next to hear more from these first owners about their experiences with Efficient Power.
If you were in Decatur for the Farm Progress Show, you probably noted the Case IH presence. We admit it – Case IH was hard to miss. But if you weren’t able to join us we invite you to take a look at the video recap of opening day.
We also hope nobody missed a chance to tweet their response to the question, “What does Efficient Power mean to me?” Here’s how it worked: Everyone was invited to describe what Efficient Power meant to them personally. There weren’t many rules- you had to include a #EfficientPower hashtag to identify your tweet, and of course you had to observe the Twitter 140-character limit. Other than that, the topic was wide open.
Check out this video walk-around with Mark Burns, Case IH Marketing Manager for Application Equipment. Mark is at Farm Progress Show showing off just a few of the features of the all-new Case IH Patriot® 4430 sprayer. The Patriot 4430 is an industry-leading performer that makes an excellent addition to the Case IH Efficient Power family, delivering more horsepower in a more fuel-efficient package with its 8.7L engine equipped with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology. It offers the most advanced spray technology available, and its improved Surveyor™ cab design makes the days – and acres – fly by in comfort.

Check out Case IH’s behind-the-scenes interview with Dawn Geske of Diesel Progress International
As a panelist for the Case IH Be Ready VIP Discussion: Engine Emissions Technology – Fact vs. Fiction, Dawn Geske, Editor-In-Chief of Diesel Progress International, explained that Diesel Progress has been following the emissions mandates and the development of new emission technologies since the beginning. “Engine manufacturers really put a significant amount of investment and research and development into meeting these requirements,” said Geske. “They’ve been working on this for many years to make sure they’re giving producers the best technology that meets Tier 4A mandates.”

Case IH high-horsepower diesel engines feature the world-class design innovation of Fiat Powertrain Technologies, a global company that makes more than 2.6 million engines every year and is a sister company of Case IH.
In last week’s blog post, “Engine Ed: What’s the 4-1-1 on Case IH’s 2011 Lineup?” David Stark walked us through some key features of the new Case IH engines and explained how they work together to provide Case IH’s 2011 lineup of Steiger®, Magnum™, and Puma™ tractors with the power, performance, and fuel efficiency you need to get the job done.
With that said, I know many of you are curious about Case IH’s partnership with Fiat Powertrain Technologies (FPT), so I wanted to provide some background about this partnership and what it means for you.
