Remember the Case IH blog post back in April that featured the TIME magazine blog article, “Is the world ready for seven billion people?

The seven billionth person will likely be born in 2011. And, most experts believe that in about 40 years the world population will grow to nine billion people!

Ready or not, here they come, and to our farmers out there, we need your help to feed them.

Check out Case IH’s latest “From the Field” video post on The Weather Channel titled, “How will growers feed the world?” This video post discusses how innovative Case IH equipment can help farmers maximize efficiency from every acre of land, so they can Be Ready to feed the world.

Happy Father’s Day to all of the dads out there!

Case IH understands the important role dads play, both within the family and on the farm.

Over the years, we have talked to a lot of dads about running the family farm and working alongside their sons and daughters. We’ve also heard a lot of stories – some good and some not so good – about the challenges of successfully passing the torch from one generation to the next.

Succession planning is an important part of a successful transition from father to son, father to daughter, or maybe to another family member or partner. Whatever your succession plan looks like, getting to that point can be difficult, and the conversations leading up to a plan can be uncomfortable.

When producers talk, Case IH listens. When producers have questions, Case IH has an extensive team based in the field that works hard to find the answers. Case IH recently introduced “From the Field,” a bi-weekly video Q&A on The Weather Channel to help shed light on key issues impacting farming practices.

Although it’s technically not even summer yet, producers have already seen quite a variety of weather that is impacting their ability to get into the fields.

Case IH’s latest “From the Field” video post, “How can we control the elements?”, discusses how the latest Case IH Patriot sprayer technology is helping farmers be ready to handle changing weather conditions while producing enough food and fiber for a growing world population. You can follow the video series at weather.com/fromthefield.

Case IH wishes to congratulate the 50 young men and women selected to participate in the National FFA’s 2011 New Century Farmer Program, an exclusive and highly competitive program to prepare young people for careers in production agriculture. The National FFA Organization announced the 2011 winners last week.

0 Case IH Be Ready VIP Discussion: Weed Resistance Will You Be Ready?

As if a late start to planting your crops wasn’t enough of a challenge for you, the delay also gives weeds ample opportunity to take root and choke out planted seedlings, making weed management an even more crucial task this summer.

Brian Hefty, a farmer and co-host of RFD-TV’s AgPhD, provided insights on weed resistance, weed tolerance, and weed management practices during his presentation, “Weed Resistance – Will You Be Ready?” as part of Case IH’s Be Ready Discussion at the 2011 Ag Connect Expo.  (more…)

Despite the completion of the 2010 tax season (insert sigh of relief here), we’re still thinking about taxes at Case IH, in particular, how to help you make the most of tax incentives that could impact the decisions you make for your farm this year.

You’re probably aware of the First Year 100 Percent Bonus Depreciation and Expanded Section179 Expense Election for purchasing qualifying new and used farm equipment. As Tim Biewer, CNH Capital marketing director explains, these two tax incentives give farmers the potential for a 100 percent bonus first-year depreciation on qualifying new equipment purchases and up to a $500,000 Section 179 expensing deduction on qualifying new and used equipment purchases.* “Basically, the U.S. government is encouraging farmers to invest in equipment versus paying taxes,” he said.

Is The World Ready for Seven Billion People?

Categories: World Population

As you’re gearing up to get in the fields this spring, I want to share a TIME magazine blog post in which author, Bryan Walsh, poses the question: “Is the world ready for seven billion people?

In his blog, Walsh comments that sometime this year the world’s seventh billionth person will be born. To put that in perspective, it took the world 50 years to grow from three billion people to seven billion people. If you think that’s fast, think about this: the sixth billionth person born is just 11 years old!

Over the last few weeks, I’ve invited Case IH experts, Bill Preller and Alan Forbes, to explain the five steps of Case IH’s Customer Driven Product Development (CDPD) process and how it influenced the development of the new Case IH Early Riser® planter toolbars.

This week, we continue to explore the Case IH Customer Driven Product Development process—this time with the help of Dale Simpson, Case IH marketing manager for seeding, who will walk us through how the CDPD process influenced the development of crucial seeding components to help farmers work within those tight seeding windows.
