Today’s guest blogger is Kathryn Johnson, Case IH High Horsepower Tractor Marketing intern. Kathryn is a University of Wisconsin-Platteville senior studying ag business. She is the second Case IH intern to share her summer experiences on the Be Ready blog.
I had always hoped to intern with Case IH. My family owns Johnson Tractor in Janesville, Wis., Juda, Wis., and Rochelle, Ill. I’ve had exposure to the dealership setting, but I wanted to better understand the company behind the equipment.
As the high horsepower tractor marketing intern, my role is to correspond with marketing and product specialists and teach dealers about equipment at the Red Power Tour. I also have participated in Dealer Advisory Board meetings where Case IH works with dealers from across the country to identify customer needs and gather input on products and services.
I have made many connections during my time at Case IH. I have learned that maintaining a positive attitude and being driven go a long way. As an intern, everyone watches you to get a sense of how you might be as a future employee, and being able to hold a conversation and anticipate tasks before they are assigned leaves a positive impression. I hope to stay in the Case IH family for a long time, so that will be beneficial.
Everyone at Case IH is extremely welcoming and willing to help interns. The Case IH internship program is more than doing busy work and getting coffee. They want to integrate you and help you learn. I absolutely recommend this experience to other students.
