Heavy rains were welcome in drought areas in Iowa and Nebraska last week. However, they stalled planting progress, and the longer the delay, the greater risk for drop in yield potential.

How is planting progressing in your area? If you’re using the Steiger Rowtrac, let us know how it has worked for you.

Unfortunately, weather during planting season often is variable, which is why Case IH designed  Steiger® Quadtrac® and Rowtrac™ tractors to get in fields when you need to – helping customers Be Ready for whatever Mother Nature might bring.

Steiger Rowtrac features equal-sized, independent, oscillating drives on all four corners to help farmers get in fields sooner.

A key reason it performs in adverse field conditions is its exclusive four-track design; Quadtrac-style tracks maintain full power to the ground at all times, even in turns. Equal-sized, independent, oscillating drives, each with two idler and three roller wheels, maintain constant ground contact even under load so farmers can get in their fields sooner with less slippage. The long wheelbase is 160 inches, results in better transfer of power to the ground.

Better traction minimizes slippage and field damage. Compared to two-track systems, operators will see no ridging or berming in turns. In addition, each track independently oscillates up and down up to 10 degrees to maintain consistent ground contact, no matter what the conditions.

The result is that not only will farmers be able to plant seed when they need to, but the seed will have a better environment in which to germinate and develop strong root systems that extend down into the soil area, with better access to nutrients. Less in-row compaction translates to earlier emergence of crops and the opportunity for increased yields.
