Case IH has two ProHarvest support teams that support custom harvesters as they make their way from the Texas/Oklahoma border north through the U.S. wheat belt to the Canadian border. For nearly 30 years, Case IH ProHarvest support teams have supplied parts, technical advice and operational instruction to Axial-Flow® custom harvesters and their crews to ensure a smooth wheat harvest.

Each spring, Case IH offers a half-day safety awareness training and equipment orientation for custom harvesters and their crews, known as the ProHarvest Kickoff, at Great Plains Technical College in Frederick, Okla.

Have you attended the ProHarvest Kickoff? What was the most valuable thing that you learned at the event?

Case IH is the only major agricultural manufacturer to offer this type of training.

This year’s kickoff was attended by nearly 300 custom harvesters and their crews. The training focuses on making participants aware of safety concerns and provides general operating tips. The event has become a priority for many custom harvester owners, as they feel this program is very valuable to their crews and reinforces their own safety training programs.

“It’s not just for our red customers. We craft the messages in a way that really gets through to these participants,” says Dan Renaud, Case IH Combine Product Specialist. “Our goal is to make them aware of what can happen if the equipment is not used properly so that they take these safety concerns seriously.”

Jim Smith, Agricultural Machinery and Technology Instructor at Great Plains Technology Center, has hosted this event for 22 years. The local Frederick FFA chapter, headed by retiring advisor Bill Blankenship, also helps with the event by providing attendees with a hot breakfast.

A great turnout for the 2014 ProHarvest Kickoff Meeting.

“The ProHarvest Kickoff is one of the many ways that Case IH provides added value to our customers,” says Renaud. “The event has been very well-received for many years. It helps prepare them for their harvesting journey ahead.”
