In last week’s blog post, “Engine Ed: What’s the 4-1-1 on Case IH’s 2011 Lineup?” David Stark walked us through some key features of the new Case IH engines and explained how they work together to provide Case IH’s 2011 lineup of Steiger®, Magnum™, and Puma™ tractors with the power, performance, and fuel efficiency you need to get the job done.
With that said, I know many of you are curious about Case IH’s partnership with Fiat Powertrain Technologies (FPT), so I wanted to provide some background about this partnership and what it means for you.
Since 2004, Case IH and FPT have been working together on engine innovations that will take performance to the next level, to increase responsiveness and fuel efficiency in Case IH tractors and combines. FPT produces approximately 2.6 million engines per year and is one of the largest engine manufacturers in the world. Their world-class design innovations featured in the Case IH engines have been powering Axial-Flow®combines and Steiger tractors for the last six years. This partnership became even more crucial as Case IH prepared for the arrival of the Tier 4A emissions regulations. In order to comply with these standards, Case IH looked to FPT’s expertise in the development of Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) and worked with them to integrate this technology into Case IH high-horsepower engines. FPT has been manufacturing engines with SCR technology for worldwide markets since 2006. In fact, over-the-road trucks with FPT SCR engine technology have already logged more than 20 million miles in Europe.
As a global company, FPT has Research & Development centers around the world; however, it just so happens that their U.S. R&D center is stationed in Burr Ridge, Illinois, along with Case IH’s Engineering Facility. This means that FPT’s application engineers, testing engineers, after-treatment experts, and quality experts are working with Case IH’s team of tractor engineers and experts to design and test these high-horsepower engines. Before these engines even entered the market, they went through several thousand hours of rigorous testing to make sure they were built to deliver the power and performance you depend on.
The close partnership between Case IH and FPT means that you can be confident in the quality, reliability, and level of expertise supporting Case IH engines. And, the partnership also means Case IH dealer service technicians are trained to work on these engines in-house at your local dealership – thus limiting the time and hassle of working with a separate engine dealer. At Case IH, we know that timing is everything for you, which is why we’re committed to providing you with the best products, technology, and expertise that will keep you running during those busy days in the field.
