This year’s theme for National FFA Week is Ignite and it embraces more than 80 years of FFA traditions while looking forward to the organization’s future. This week, more than half a million members will participate in National FFA Week activities at local, state and national levels. The all-expenses paid educational conference is offered to those currently enrolled in or who have recently graduated from a two- or four-year college or university. Participants learn about new farm business opportunities, gain an understanding of how banks view farming operations and establish a network of business professionals who are pursuing a career in production agriculture. The 86th National FFA Convention – held last week in Louisville, Ky., – featured all the excitement, pageantry and inspiration this annual event is known for, as well as achieved record-setting attendance of 62,998 students, teachers and guests.

The nine runners-up of the American Farm Bureau Federation’s (AFBF) 2013 Young Farmers & Ranchers (YF&R) competitive events recently were honored with a Case IH Farmall A tractor at the AFBF annual meeting in Nashville, Tenn. Events included the Discussion Meet, Excellence in Agriculture and Achievement Award. There are three runners-up in each competition.
